Brief
Zoocha worked with Newport City Council (NCC) on the redesign and development of their new LocalGov Drupal (LGD) platform. As one of the largest local authorities in Wales, NCC required a user-centred platform transformation that would meet the needs of the local community and also improve ease of use for the web team.
Collaborative Design
NCC offered an in-house graphic design team that were able to produce a series of visuals that demonstrated the vision for the look and feel of the new platform.
Through collaborative workshopping, our UX team then translated these expectations into usable digital prototypes, ensuring adherence to LocalGov Drupal templates and modern digital standards.
LocalGov Development
Highlights of our approach to development included:
- Leveraging LocalGov Drupal as a strong foundation for speed of delivery
- WCAG2.2 AA compliant development
- Multilingual functionality in Welsh across the entire platform
- Staggered release approach
- Implementation of a proxy pass between the old and new platforms, allowing content to exist simultaneously
Our work with NCC resulted in the launch of the UK’s first multilingual Welsh LocalGov Drupal platform in just 5 months from project inception through to live. Genuine collaboration from day one was central to the success of this project, setting realistic expectations and a shared vision of success for the offset.
