   - an obvious but essential part of the SEO 'puzzle' is to ensure that search engines can crawl the pages you want them to crawl, ignore the ones you don't and index your site to be returned in SERPs (search engine results pages).

   - getting your pages indexed is really only worth anything if they are indexed against the keywords you want to drive traffic from. In other words, it has to put an 'importance' score on each page in its index. This 'score' is influenced by several things but the most important by far is 'back-links' i.e. links to the page from other websites.
